Pakistan hits Afghan positions, 50 Khawarij killed; Riyadh and Doha call for calm

Security sources reported that more than 50 Taliban fighters and foreign militants were killed in the operation.
According to security sources, Afghan forces had opened unprovoked fire at multiple border points, including Angoor Adda, Bajaur, Kurram, Dir, Chitral, and Baram Chah, aiming to assist Khawarij formations attempting to infiltrate into Pakistan.
Saudi Arabia and Qatar express concern:
Saudi Arabia and Qatar have expressed concern over the escalation along the Pak-Afghan border, calling for restraint and dialogue to resolve the situation.
Both countries urged Pakistan and Afghanistan to exercise patience and avoid further provocations.
The Saudi Foreign Ministry emphasized that the tension should be resolved through dialogue, stressing the importance of restraint. Qatar also echoed similar concerns, calling for peaceful resolution through negotiations.
Iran calls for restraint:
Amid the clashes, Iranian top diplomat Abbas Araghchi urged both Pakistan and Afghanistan to exercise restraint.
Speaking to state television, he said that stability between the two countries is crucial for regional stability.
Several posts captured, Taliban surrender:
According to security sources, alert and prepared Pakistani soldiers guarding various posts responded swiftly and forcefully, targeting multiple Afghan positions and neutralising several Afghan facilitation posts used by Khawarij as launch pads for terrorist actions in Pakistan.
Military sources said Durrani Camp-2 served as a central launchpad for foreign militants carrying out attacks inside Pakistan, and that Pakistan’s response has continued in full measure against Afghan forces and the posts that sheltered facilitators.
Security sources said that many Taliban and Khawarij either fled their posts or were killed, and that Pakistani forces have seized several Afghan positions.
In one reported incident, an Afghan post in the Kunar area opposite Bajaur was destroyed, and Afghan soldiers abandoned positions under heavy Pakistani fire, leaving casualties behind.
The security sources confirmed that at one captured post, an Afghan soldier affiliated with Taliban forces reportedly surrendered to Pakistan Army troops.
