Two terrorists killed in security forces’ operation in Bannu

Two most-wanted terrorists — including the alleged mastermind behind the deadly attack that claimed the lives of four Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) officials — were gunned down during a joint operation in Bannu.

According to CTD officials, credible intelligence suggested that the terrorists were planning a major strike along Company Road within the jurisdiction of Domail Police Station.

Acting swiftly, CTD teams and district police cordoned off the area. Upon being surrounded, the terrorists opened fire on security personnel in an attempt to flee.

Law enforcement officials retaliated effectively, engaging the attackers in an intense exchange of fire that lasted nearly 25 minutes.

After the area was secured, the bodies of two slain terrorists were recovered during the subsequent search and clearance operation.

The slain terrorists were identified as Rashidin alias Malang Yar and Khalid Usman alias Usman. Both the slain terrorists belong to Bannu.

Terrorist Rashidin alias Malang Yar was the mastermind behind the attack on the CTD team on April 30.

Four personnel including ASI Beniamin were martyred and one was injured in the attack.
