Pakistan envoy calls for 'strategic and economically grounded' US ties

Emphasizing the importance of Pak-US relations, Ambassador Sheikh noted that the partnership has consistently proven vital not only for both countries but also for the broader free world.
He highlighted the unprecedented positive momentum in bilateral ties and stressed the need to convert this goodwill into a strategic, economically anchored partnership, focusing on mutually beneficial opportunities.
Ambassador Sheikh pointed to Pakistan’s improving economic indicators—including single-digit inflation, upgraded credit ratings from all three major agencies, and ongoing engagement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF)—as evidence of stability and potential for investment.
He outlined sectors with strong collaboration potential, such as information technology (where Pakistan offers a 70% cost advantage over the US while remaining competitive regionally), US agricultural exports (including cotton and soybeans), energy, and investment through the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC).
Congressman Larson welcomed the ambassador’s outreach and expressed strong support for expanding economic and people-to-people ties.
He highlighted the pivotal role of the over one million-strong Pakistani-American community, which, as one of the higher-income diaspora groups in the US, serves as a natural bridge for trade, investment, and political engagement.
Both sides agreed that Pakistani-Americans should play a leading role in realizing the “Pakistan for Profit” opportunities that benefit both nations, pledging to work together to build a lasting, mutually rewarding partnership for current and future generations.
