Prime Minister Calls for Immediate Planning Ahead of Next Monsoon
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has directed to start preparations for prevention of the loss of life and property in next monsoon season. He was chairing a review meeting in Islamabad today regarding the climate change induced losses and mitigation plan for the next year's Monsoon.

The Prime Minister approved the short term plan presented by the Ministry of Climate Change and directed to implement it immediately.

Shehbaz Sharif instructed that the Ministry of Climate Change, Ministry of Planning and the NDMA should work in collaboration with the provincial governments to evolve a comprehensive strategy regarding the climate change.

He also directed to start preparations for arranging a meeting of the National Water Council to formulate a national plan for better water management.

Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister said Pakistan is a developing country, and a substantial amount of the GDP has to be spent to mitigate adverse impacts of climate change after every three years. He said instead of development, our precious and limited resources are used to prevent the hazardous impacts of climate change.

The Prime Minister said Pakistan, which has a negligible role in climate change, is engulfed with the adverse impacts of climate change.

Federal Ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Ahad Khan Cheema, Muhammad Aurangzeb, Dr. Musadik Malik, Attaullah Tarar and other relevant authorities attended the meeting.
