KP CM Afridi approves converting CTD’s 186 detectives into field operatives

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Sohail Afridi on Tuesday approved converting the Counter-Terrorism Department’s (CTD) 186 detectives into permanent field operators tasked with cyber patrolling, intelligence gathering, surveillance, and on-ground operations.

Presiding over a key CTD meeting in Peshawar, the chief minister also greenlit the establishment of a new regional headquarters for the department in the provincial capital.

The forum further decided to revive the stalled project of constructing CTD offices in 21 districts at a cost exceeding Rs4 billion.

Additionally, over Rs7 billion was approved for purchasing vehicles and modern equipment to enhance the department’s operational capabilities.

CM Afridi instructed officials to strictly adhere to timelines for recruitment and implementation of reforms, reiterating the provincial government’s commitment to restoring peace and stability across the region.

He expressed the resolve that lack of resources would not be allowed to become a stumbling block in ensuring law and order situation in the province.

At the meeting, the chief minister was briefed in detail about the CTD.
