Positive results of reforms in Pakistan are beginning to emerge; Confession of the Managing Director of the IMF

International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva has praised the government of Pakistan for taking the reforms under the IMF program seriously and said that the results of these measures are now beginning to emerge. According to him, financial resources are being created due to discipline in the budget which can be spent on public welfare.

The IMF chief said that the IMF has been in constructive consultation with Pakistan for a long time and he appreciated the seriousness of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

He said that when the Prime Minister promises something, it remains complete.

According to Kristalina Georgieva, the meetings with the Pakistani leadership were fruitful, with progress so far and discussions on areas where more work is needed.

He said that the same procedure was adopted in recent meetings as well.

The managing director of the IMF also praised the Prime Minister and his cabinet and said that they are serious about advancing the difficult but necessary reforms for the betterment of the country, although these reforms also have political implications.

These statements of his came out a day ago after the meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Davos, in which the Prime Minister gave a briefing on the improving economic situation of Pakistan

The Prime Minister informed the IMF chief about the improvement in economic indicators, measures for stability and progress on institutional reforms.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister reiterated Pakistan's commitment to financial discipline, revenue growth and sustainable development.

The managing director of the IMF acknowledged these reforms and while appreciating the progress so far said that it is important to maintain the pace of reforms for long-term economic stability

The importance of mutual cooperation for the global economic situation, challenges faced by emerging economies and economic stability at the global level was also discussed between the two sides
