Action taken on terrorist hideouts in Afghanistan based on credible information, Foreign Office

Foreign Office Spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi has said that the action taken on terrorist hideouts in Afghanistan was based on credible information and its aim is not to harm the Afghan people but to eliminate the activities of terrorist elements. During the weekly press briefing in Islamabad, the spokesperson said that notice is being taken of the threatening statements of the Afghan Taliban and Pakistan is fully aware of the threats emerging from Afghanistan. He said that the territory of Afghanistan should not be used against other countries.

He made it clear that Pakistan will continue to take action against terrorists under its right to self-defense and wants to end the freedom enjoyed by terrorists on Afghan soil.

Qatar visit and OIC meeting

According to the spokesperson, the Prime Minister visited Doha on February 23-24 at the invitation of the Emir of Qatar, where it was agreed to further strengthen economic partnership. Qatar’s Minister of Defense and Minister of State also met the Prime Minister.

He said that Pakistan would welcome any positive role of the Emir of Qatar on the issue of Afghanistan.

Furthermore, an emergency ministerial meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) is being held in Jeddah on February 26 to discuss Israeli actions in the occupied West Bank. Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar will present Pakistan’s position in the meeting.

Samjhauta Express attack

The spokesperson said that this month marks the 19th anniversary of the Samjhauta Express attack in which more than 70 people were killed. According to him, despite the confessions of those involved in the attack, India has failed to bring those responsible to justice.

He also rejected the statement of the Indian Ministry of External Affairs after the recent terrorist attack in Balochistan, saying that Pakistan stands by its position.
